Alex, Jake and I just finished reading the first two chapters of "Do Hard Things." To be honest, it was a bit difficult to begin. First, I needed to cancel my Friday morning meeting. Next, the task of putting Matt, Sam and Caleb to bed almost sent me to Neverland. Pulling Jake away from his latest novel required a few minutes of patience. Finally, comments from BarlowGirl and Chuck Norris provided one more pit stop.
Then, we read.
My greatest disappointment from reading this initial section was that I did not have this kind of thinking as a teenager. God was and is still working on me.
My great encouragement from reading this section was in the fact that Alex and Brett Harris were not promoting a rebellion "against institutions or even against people." Rather, it is against a simple, yet dangerous mind-set that cripples the potential and purpose of teens everywhere. Alex is 14. Jake is 12...soon 13.
God, help me to lead and encourage my teens to make the most of these years.
